Moldovan parliament speaker conveys message to EU Ambassador at end of mandate

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a farewell meeting with European Union Ambassador to Moldova Jānis Mažeiks, at the end of his mandate.

The speaker thanked the European diplomat for the constant support provided to  Moldova in the process of joining the European Union. Igor Grosu highlighted that, in recent years, the country had made significant changes, officially becoming a candidate state for accession and Jānis Mažeiks had been a reliable partner throughout this journey.

‘’In the last four years, we have made very important steps in our process of joining the European Union: we have made essential changes in all sectors and have officially become a candidate country. Throughout this journey, we have had constant support on behalf on behalf of the EU Ambassador in Chisinau Jānis Mažeiks. We have a duty to continue the work started, so as to bring Europe village by village, city by city,’’ said Igor Grosu.

At the same time, the parliament speaker emphasized the essential contribution of the ambassador to strengthening the bilateral relations between Moldova and the European Union, highlighting the infrastructure, local development, social, and cultural projects funded by the EU in the country.
