Moldovan companies promote fruit at Fruit Attraction 2026 in Madrid

Fifteen companies from the Republic of Moldova are participating from October 6 to 8 in Fruit Attraction 2026 international exhibition in Madrid, where they are presenting their fruit offerings and seeking new business partners in foreign markets.

Moldovan producers are gathered at the national stand “Moldova – taste makes the difference,” organized by Moldova Fruct Association. Apples, grapes, and plums are among the main products promoted at the exhibition.

According to the Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters, Moldovan companies have invested in recent years in the modernization of orchards, as well as in post-harvest infrastructure, sorting, packaging, and certification. Some of the participating producers hold international certifications such as GlobalG.A.P., SMETA, and IFS, which are required to access multiple markets and collaborate with international retail chains.

Iurie Fală, executive director of Moldova Fruct Association said that participating in international exhibitions is important for producers to present their offerings directly to buyers and develop business relationships.

“It is not enough to have quality goods and tasty fruit; we must also come with a well-presented offer, be visible, and develop direct relationships with international retail chains and buyers,” said Iurie Fală.

For some companies, Fruit Attraction marks their first participation as exhibitors. Artur Lesco, executive director of AMG Kernel, said that the company has approximately 1,600 tons of apples from its own production and is particularly focused on identifying customers in the European market. According to him, after the first day of the exhibition, contacts had already been established with potential buyers from Spain and Saudi Arabia.

Participation also generated interest for Dor Fruct from buyers interested in plums and grapes, including the Moldova variety. The company’s administrator, Dorina Tătaru said that the producer had held discussions with partners from France and Italy and was seeking both to expand its business relationships and identify new technologies for the company.

In 2025, the Republic of Moldova ranked among the world’s leading exporters of several categories of fresh fruit. According to ITC Trade Map data, based on statistics from the ITC and UN Comtrade, the country ranked fifth in plum exports, with approximately 70,000 tons; eighth in cherry exports, with around 12,000 tons; and 10th in apricot exports, with approximately 3,800 tons. Moldova also ranked 13th in apple exports, with around 107,000 tons, and 15th in fresh grape exports, with approximately 65,000 tons.

Fruit Attraction 2026 brings together more than 2,500 companies from 63 countries and over 121,000 professionals from approximately 150 countries. The exhibition is taking place in 10 pavilions of the IFEMA Madrid exhibition center, covering an area of approximately 162,000 square meters.

The participation of Moldovan companies is organized by Moldova Fruct Association and co-financed through the BRIDGE Export program, with the support of the Investment Agency, UMAEF – Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, and the National Board of Trade Sweden.
