Technical negotiations on final clusters of Moldova’s EU accession process launched in Brussels
The final stage of technical negotiations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, targeting the last three clusters of the EU acquis, was launched today in Brussels, marking full coverage of all six clusters and the 33 thematic chapters of European legislation. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov made the statement.
“Today our country has taken another concrete step toward its European future: technical negotiations have been opened for the last three groups of chapters as well – Competitiveness and inclusive growth, Green agenda and sustainable connectivity, as well as Resources, agriculture and cohesion. For the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, these negotiations are not just a technical process in Brussels. They mean real changes at home: a stronger economy, investments in infrastructure and modernized roads, a cleaner environment, safer food standards, quality education, and efficient public services – just some of the benefits we will feel in our communities,” said Gherasimov.
The fact that the negotiations now cover all 33 chapters represents recognition of the work carried out in recent years and of the trust that European partners have in the Republic of Moldova and its citizens, the Deputy Prime Minister underlined.
“There is still a lot of work ahead to implement all the necessary reforms, but the direction is clear: Moldova is moving forward, with determination, toward its strategic objective – accession to the European Union,” Gherasimov added.
According to the Bureau for European Integration, in the coming period national institutions will continue aligning legislation and implementing reforms, and the progress achieved will allow the advancement of the next stages of the accession negotiations.
The technical negotiations will cover the following three groups of chapters: Cluster 3 – Competitiveness and inclusive growth, which includes areas such as the labor market, social policy, education, industrial policy and digital transformation; Cluster 4 – Green agenda and sustainable connectivity, which targets areas such as environmental protection, transport, energy and infrastructure; and Cluster 5 – Resources, agriculture and cohesion, which includes agricultural policy, rural development, fisheries, regional policy and the management of European funds.
