Forest Generation: State Chancellery participated in afforestation campaign in Dereneu village, Călărași
The team of the State Chancellery joined today Forest Generation afforestation campaign, planting seedlings in Dereneu village, Călărași district.
The planting of acacia, maple and cherry plum seedlings took place in a forest culture unit with an area of 16.3 hectares. In total, over 70,000 seedlings will be planted on this plot in the current spring season, 70% of which will be acacia.
By participating in the afforestation campaign, the State Chancellery supports the joint efforts to increase the forested areas in the Republic of Moldova. Forests play an essential role in a healthy environment: they clean the air, protect soil and water and help combat climate change.
This spring, afforestation works are planned on an area of 3,000 hectares, with the planting of over 11 million seedlings grown in specialized nurseries.
The National Program for Expansion and Rehabilitation of Forests in the Republic of Moldova provides for the rehabilitation and afforestation of 145,000 hectares of land over the next 10 years. In the first three years since the launch of the program, more than 20,000 hectares have already been rehabilitated and afforested.
