Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with International Student Surgical Network - Moldova (InciSiON Moldova), an international student organization that promotes surgical education, leadership, and the involvement of students in academic and professional activities.

The agreement establishes a framework for educational and professional cooperation that will facilitate the organization of workshops, practical training sessions, and joint academic activities, contributing to the development of students’ technical and professional skills, including those of international students.

The memorandum was concluded during the first edition of Surgical Knots and Sutures workshop, an educational event dedicated to developing students’ practical skills in the field of surgery.

“Developing practical skills is an essential component in the training of future doctors. By organizing this workshop and through the collaboration initiated with the International Student Surgical Network – Moldova, we aim to offer students additional opportunities for applied learning and for improving their surgical competencies in a modern academic environment,” said Dumitru Casian, head of Nicolae Anestiadi Department of General Surgery.

Participants in the workshop had the opportunity to practice fundamental techniques for performing surgical knots and sutures on simulation models, with activities carried out under the guidance of instructors and the department’s teaching staff. The activity was coordinated by associate professors Marin Vozian and Alexandru Ursu, as well as PhD student Mihail Rotaru.

The event provided students with an interactive and hands-on educational setting, contributing to the development of fundamental technical skills in surgical practice, to strengthening collaboration between the academic environment and international student organizations, and to promoting excellence in medical education.
