Deputy Prime Minister meets ambassadors of countries in Weimar format

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi met with ambassadors of Germany, France, and Poland to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), who were gathered in Chișinău in the Weimar Format. The discussions focused on regional security and cooperation within the OSCE.

The officials discussed the current stage of the Transnistrian settlement process, with particular attention given to the precarious state of fundamental rights and freedoms in the eastern districts of the country.

Popșoi emphasized that the authorities in Chișinău maintain their firm position of settling the Transnistrian conflict exclusively through peaceful means, using political and diplomatic measures and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders.

“The reintegration of the country is a process that is advancing, and our priority is to maintain peace and stability so that we can continue this durable and sustainable reintegration process. It is essential to strengthen state institutions in order to respond to the interests of all citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” Mihai Popșoi said.

At the same time, the minister praised the contribution of the OSCE Mission to Moldova in facilitating dialogue, monitoring the security situation, and promoting respect for human rights, highlighting the importance of the organization’s continued active involvement in the Transnistrian settlement process.

For their part, the ambassadors of Germany, France, and Poland reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, as well as for its European path, welcoming the progress made in the process of accession to the European Union.

The officials reaffirmed the important role of the OSCE in maintaining security, political and security dialogue, and promoting democracy throughout the OSCE area. They also agreed to continue cooperation in pursuit of common objectives.
