Spain’s National Day celebrated in Chisinau: “Moldova is a future partner with whom we wish to share the European project”

Spain’s National Day has been marked in Chisinau with a reception organized by the Bucharest-based Embassy of Spain. Attending the event were Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin, Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, MPs, representatives of the authorities, the diplomatic corps and the business community.

The event, held on October 16, highlighted the friendly relations between Spain and Moldova, as well as their shared commitment to a European future.

„A meeting dedicated to celebrating the friendship between Spain and Moldova and reaffirming our commitment to a common European future,” the Embassy said in a message.

In an exclusive interview with MOLDPRES, Spain’s Ambassador to Moldova José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano conveyed a message of confidence and solidarity to Moldovan citizens, reaffirming his country’s support for Moldova’s European path.

„First and foremost, I would like to convey to the citizens of Moldova a message of friendship, admiration and confidence. We know that you are going through a difficult period, but we also know that you have showed extraordinary determination in building your own future,” the ambassador said.

José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano highlighted Spain’s experience, as the country marks 40 years since joining the European Communities this year, emphasizing the transformative impact of European integration on the country and the opportunities it has provided its citizens.

„Forty years ago, Spain underwent a profound transformation thanks to its European integration, and we know well the value of this project. That is why, when we look at Moldova, we do not see merely a country aspiring to join the European Union, but a future partner with whom we wish to share this project,” José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano said.

The diplomat assured that Spain would continue to support Moldova in its European integration process, expressing his conviction that the country’s participation would strengthen the entire European Union.

„Spain will continue to accompany you on this path, convinced that Moldova’s future belongs to its citizens and that Europe will be stronger through their participation,” the ambassador concluded.

Spain’s National Day is annually celebrated on October 12. This year, the marking of 40 years of Spain’s membership in the European project provides an additional opportunity to highlight the importance of solidarity and cooperation among European states, in the context of Moldova’s aspirations to join the European Union.
