Moldovan Central Electoral Commission approves ballot paper designs for regional elections due on November 15

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the ballot paper designs for the regional elections due on November 15, 2026. The ballots will be divided into rectangles, the number of which will correspond to the number of electoral contestants.

According to the CEC, the ballot papers will be 140 mm wide, while their length will correspond to the number of rectangles placed 2.5 mm apart.

“The ballot papers will be printed on opaque (matte) paper and will be distinguished by color: gray-green for the election of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia and pale indigo-violet for the election of the Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia. Electoral contestants will be listed on the ballot paper in uppercase letters of the same size and typeface, in the order determined by the drawing of lots conducted by the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia and, respectively, by the first-level district electoral councils,” the CEC emphasized.

The Commission also confirmed the individuals responsible for finances appointed by the Political Party Alliance “MOLDOVENII,” the Political Party “For the Country,” and the Gagauz People’s Party for the elections to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, as well as by the POLITICAL PARTY NEW HISTORICAL OPTION for the election of the Governor of Gagauzia.

Likewise, the CEC authorized a public opinion poll on voters’ political preferences. The survey will be conducted throughout the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia during October 17-25.

The Commission members also approved more public-interest messages prepared by the CEC, as part of the information campaign for the regional elections.

The elections for the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia will take place on November 15, 2026, on the same day as the election for the Governor of Gagauzia. The election campaign will begin on October 16.
