Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet met Italian Ambassador to Moldova Enrico Nunziata today, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials highlighted the ascendant nature of the Moldovan-Italian ties, with Italy being an active promoter of Moldova's interests in efforts of modernising and aligning with the European standards.
Strelet thanked Italy for the support provided in the context of marking the National Day of Moldova at the Expo Milan-2015 international exhibition. „Moldova is honoured to take part in this prestigious event with its own pavilion. Participation in Expo Milan-2015 will contribute more to boosting the economic ties between Moldova and Italy,” Strelet said. The prime minister also referred to constructive talks with the Italian authorities in Milan, focused on deepening the economic relations, developing cooperation in the agriculture, culture and tourism sectors.
For his part, Enrico Nunziata reiterated Italy's support for the European aspirations of Moldova, launching proposals to cooperate, in line with the joint declaration of the Moldovan and Italian foreign ministers on bilateral cooperation to enforce the Moldova-EU Association Agreement from 15 October 2014. At the same time, Nunziata spoke out for continuing the tradition to organise economic forums for Italian and Moldovan-Italian companies working in Moldova: „Such events represent a good occasion to set a dialogue between Moldovan institutions and Italian investors,” the ambassador said.
