Moldovan parliament speaker, at meeting with Romania’s PM: “We need more bridges over the Prut and fewer borders between us”
Chisinau, October 27, 2026 – Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has met Prime Minister of Romania Luca-Alexandru Niculescu, who is in Chișinău on his first official visit since the investiture of the new government in Bucharest. The discussions focused on the development agenda of Moldova and Romania, as well as on projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens on both banks of the Prut River.
“The immediate priorities are putting the Vulcanesti–Chișinău power line into operation and advancing work on the Ungheni–Ungheni bridge. We want energy never to be used as a political weapon again and to achieve, this we must strengthen our energy independence. At the same time, we need more bridges over the Prut and fewer borders between us,” the parliament speaker emphasized.
Igor Grosu also noted that Moldova and Romania shared the responsibility of building stronger ties, creating more opportunities and ensuring a better future for citizens on both banks of the Prut.
“Bucharest can always count on Chisinau, just as we know that we can rely on Romania,” the parliament speaker said during the meeting with the PM of Romania.
