Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration holds talks with Romanian Foreign Minister
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting today with Romanian Foreign Minister Dan Neculăescu.
The officials discussed a wide range of topics related to bilateral cooperation and sectoral partnerships, highlighting Romania’s active role in its continued support for the Republic of Moldova through various technical assistance and sustainable development projects, particularly in the areas of education, energy infrastructure strengthening, environmental protection, and others.
The Deputy Prime Minister reviewed the government’s priorities in implementing reintegration policies and the prompt support measures provided to residents on both banks of the Dniester, and briefed his counterpart on the dynamics of interaction within the existing dialogue formats between Chișinău and Tiraspol.
The essence and stages of promoting the Convergence Fund were explained, noting that this additional intervention mechanism will be used to implement new socio-economic activities and projects for the benefit of citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the country’s Transnistrian region, thereby contributing to increased support from the constitutional authorities and the elimination of artificial disparities between the two banks.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Romania for its multidimensional support for Romanian-language educational institutions in the Transnistrian region, its firm backing of the Republic of Moldova’s European path, and its consistent support for promoting a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with respect for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The officials agreed to maintain close cooperation and strengthen dialogue on matters of common interest.
