PM says: Today at European Moldova Assembly we clearly said we are Europeans
Chisinau, May 21. /MOLDPRES/- More than 80 thousand citizens from the whole country participated today in the European Moldova Assembly, organized by the authorities at the initiative of President Maia Sandu. The people present in the Great National Assembly Square, as well as compatriots from 33 European cities, expressed their support for the European integration of our country, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Maia Sandu's speech reads that joining the European Union is the covenant of our generation - because Moldova is Europe.
"We, the people of this country, decide now and with no way back that the Republic of Moldova raises its head high and goes forward proudly, goes to the European Union. Moldova is our country, everyone's. I urge you to believe in our power to succeed. Let's have faith in the fact that our future is here, at home, and that our generation will bring Moldova into the European family", said Maia Sandu.
In the discussions with the citizens, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said our people want a stable economy and a higher standard of living, and the integration into the European Union will be a reward for the continuous commitment of the citizens to build a modern and prosperous European society.
"Today, after more than 30 years of uncertainties and controversies, we say bluntly what we want and where we are going. The Republic of Moldova is European. We are Europeans. The citizens approved the resolution by which we say that the accession to the European Union is the path firmly chosen by the Republic of Moldova", said Recean.
