Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration pays working visit to Stefan Voda district

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri, accompanied by MP Larisa Voloh, has paid a working visit to south-eastern Stefan Voda district. The discussions held at the District Council with representatives of the local public administration and deconcentrated public services focused on the current regional situation, the main challenges faced by communities and the current needs in such areas as infrastructure, education, healthcare, the provision of quality public services and local development.

The sides also highlighted scale of public services benefiting residents of the Transnistrian region on the right bank of the Dniester. A significant number of people from the left bank of the Dniester are registered with family doctors on the right bank and benefit from healthcare services, subsidized medicines and other forms of support provided by the state. At the Family Doctors’ Centre in the village of Rascaieti alone, more than 1,200 people from the left bank of the Dniester have access to medical services in the national healthcare system. At the same time, children from the region are integrated into the national education system, attending general education institutions, including schools and kindergartens on the right bank, while citizens from the Transnistrian region approach the constitutional authorities every day to get national identity documents and other paperwork.

During the visit to the district, the deputy PM visited the villages of Rascaieti and Cioburciu, communities located in the Security Zone. The visit provided an opportunity to assess the situation in the communities on site and review projects implemented with the support of the Country Reintegration Activities Programme. Projects supported this year include the repair and reconstruction of cultural centres, institutions that play an important role in the social and cultural life of local communities.

“The development of villages and ensuring access to quality public services are important components of the country’s reintegration process. Being present in the communities allows us to directly understand people’s needs and jointly identify concrete solutions,” Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri said during discussions with community members.

At the end of the meetings and field visits, the deputy PM and local representatives agreed to strengthen cooperation on a broad range of issues, so that people on both banks of the Dniester can enjoy better living conditions.
