Farmers in Dubăsari district face new barriers imposed by Tiraspol
The Reintegration Policy Office announces that farmers in Dubăsari district, who own land located beyond Camenca–Tiraspol route continue to face major difficulties in conducting agricultural activities due to restrictions imposed by Tiraspol.
According to the institution, starting in 2024, farmers are required to present various documents annually to process their lands and transport agricultural products. Moreover, the transport of the harvest through unauthorized checkpoints is conditioned by the payment of illegal fees, unilaterally imposed, including a percentage of the production value.
The financial and administrative barriers reduce the competitiveness of farmers and affect household incomes. In addition, farmers face restrictions on the use of agricultural machinery, seeds and fertilizers, all subject to additional approvals. The irrigation pumping stations remain under the control of regional structures, complicating access to water and crop planning.
Another serious problem is the afforestation of agricultural land: between 2018 and 2020, over 80 hectares belonging to Dorotcaia were illegally occupied, reducing the areas available for production and community resources.
The Reintegration Policy Office emphasizes that the practices represent abusive pressures and a direct violation of the fundamental rights of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The issue remains a priority on the negotiation agenda, and authorities in Chișinău assure that they will constantly monitor the situation to defend the right to property and the free conduct of economic activities.
