Moldova, EU strengthen partnership: 27 million euros for jobs, better social services, protection of vulnerable people

Moldova is steadily advancing on its European path and strengthening its cooperation with the European Union in the fields of education, employment and social policies. The reforms and progress achieved by the country in these areas have been reviewed at the second High-Level Dialogue meeting between Moldova and the EU on employment, skills, education, social policies and children's rights, held in Brussels today.

The meeting was held under the aegis of the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Training, Roxana Minzatu, with the participation of Labour and Social Protection Minister Natalia Plugaru and Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun.

Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Training Roxana Minzatu said that the EU was currently supporting Moldova with over 27 million euros for projects that promote employment, better social services and the protection of vulnerable people.

“The European Union will continue to support Moldova through funding, expertise and institutional cooperation. The objective is clear: for the European path of Moldova to produce concrete results for citizens. The place of Moldova is in the European family,” said Roxana Minzatu.

Labour and Social Protection Minister Natalia Plugaru announced that the dialogue had focused on reforms that have a direct impact on people's lives – from education and employment to social protection, inclusion and equal opportunities. She also presented the progress made by Moldova in the field of labour and social protection in aligning with European standards.

In his speech, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun highlighted the main priorities of the sector: ensuring equitable access to inclusive and quality education for each child, enhancing the efficiency of public investment in education, promoting academic integrity, modernizing technical vocational education and strengthening research and innovation.

The first High-Level Dialogue meeting between Moldova and the EU on employment, skills, education, social policies and children's rights was held in Chisinau in June 2025.
