Moldova and Sweden strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas
Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting with new Ambassador of Sweden to our country Petra Maria Lärke. During the discussions, Grosu emphasized the important role of Sweden as a strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova and one of the largest bilateral donors.
"Sweden is a very important partner for us in areas such as security, defense, and electoral processes," stated Igor Grosu.
The official thanked the ambassador for Sweden's constant support to our country over the years and wished her a productive mandate in the Republic of Moldova.
The Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Sweden established official diplomatic relations on June 12, 1992. Sweden is one of the most important bilateral donors for the Republic of Moldova. In 2025 alone, Sweden provided our country with support of 8.7 million euros to reduce Moldova's energy vulnerability and to support vulnerable households during the cold season.
