Energy compensation: Recipients can collect money at Post Offices as of today
Starting today, recipients of energy compensations can collect payments from post offices across the country. To receive money, citizens are required to present their identification card.
The money is directed to post offices for those who have not provided a bank card for receiving payments. For those who chose to receive money on their card, financial resources have been transferred starting Friday, December 12th.
In the cold season of 2025-2026, a total of 605,538 thousand households, housing over 1.2 million people, will benefit from energy compensations. 53% of eligible households will receive the maximum compensation, which is 800 lei for those heating with wood and 1,000 lei for other heating sources. Additionally, 23% of the beneficiaries will receive compensations between the minimum and maximum value, which is between 500 lei and 1,000 lei. The remaining eligible households, or a quarter of the beneficiaries, will receive a minimum compensation of 500 lei. Compensations will be granted throughout the entire heating season.
The Meter Aid program provides, for the fourth consecutive year, energy compensations to vulnerable households for the period November to March. The compensations are offered as a monetary payment, paid monthly.
People who have not yet submitted applications for compensations can still do so, but will not receive compensations for November. If the application was submitted after the 25th of the month, compensations will be granted starting the following month.
