National Bank of Moldova takes over chairmanship of Central and South-Eastern Europe Banking Supervisors Group

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) will take over the presidency of the Central and South-Eastern Europe Banking Supervisors Group (BSCEE) starting from 16 December 2025, which is one of the most important platforms for cooperation among banking supervisory authorities in the region.

The mandate will be carried out by BNM Vice Governor Constantin Șchendra for the period from December 16, 2025, to December 15, 2026, following the decision adopted at the 37th annual conference of the Group, held in June in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Constantin Șchendra highlights that the participation of the Republic of Moldova in BSCEE reflects our country's determination to strengthen banking supervision and move towards integrating European practices.

“I take on the presidency of the Central and South-Eastern Europe Banking Supervisors Group with great responsibility, a community that brings together 24 supervisory authorities and which, over time, has become a genuine space for dialogue and mutual learning. In this period marked by rapid technological transformations, increasing cyber risks, and constant changes in financial markets, collaboration between supervisors is decisive. I wish, during this mandate, to strengthen this cooperation and advance joint projects that can enhance the resilience of the banking sector across the entire region,” stated Constantin Șchendra.

Additionally, the National Bank of Moldova expresses its willingness to host the next BSCEE Annual Conference in 2026, reaffirming its active role in promoting regional dialogue and cooperation.

BSCEE is a network founded in 1991, which brings together the banking supervisory authorities of 24 countries from Central and South-Eastern Europe. The purpose of this high-level forum is cooperation and the exchange of experience in banking supervision, contributing to strengthening the financial systems in the region.
