Goods exports up by over 23 percent: EU strengthens position as Moldova's main trading partner

The goods exports carried out in October 2025 amounted to $409.2 million, marking an 18.5% increase compared to September 2025 and a 23.7% increase compared to October 2024. The European Union remains the primary destination for Moldovan products, with a share that rose to 68.2 percent. The data was presented today by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS).

Thus, the exports of goods destined for European Union countries (EU-27) in January-October 2025 totaled $2068.2 million, 4.4% more compared to the corresponding period in 2024. They hold a share of 68.2% of total exports, 1.1 percentage points more than January-October 2024.

On the other hand, the value of exports of goods destined for CIS countries, in January-October 2025, decreased by 11.3% and accounts for a 6.1% share of total exports.

The main destination countries for goods exports were Romania (29.3% of total exports), Turkey (9.2%), Italy, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Germany, Bulgaria, Russian Federation, Poland, Greece.

The largest shares in the export structure were held by machinery and electrical equipment, oilseed, and oleaginous fruits, vegetables and fruits, cereals, clothing and accessories, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, furniture.

BNS data also shows that the imports of goods carried out in October 2025 amounted to $995.5 million, 6.2% more compared to September 2025 and 25.7% more compared to October 2024.
