Moldovan electoral contenders have only five days at disposal to make changes to electoral list
Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) informs that the withdrawal of the entire list of candidates, the replacing of a candidate or exclusion from the electoral list of a candidate can be made only till 26 June inclusively.
Under the provisions of the electoral legislation, the decision on the withdrawal or change of the list of candidates is adopted by the formation which put forward the concerned list, with the observance of the 40-per cent minimal share of representation for both genders. The candidates’ positioning on lists is made according to the formula: at least four candidates for each ten seats in parliament.
In the context, the independent candidate has right to withdraw his/her candidacy, but not later than 14 days before the day of elections.
After this deadline expires, the registration of the electoral contender can be cancelled only by the electoral body which registered it/him/her, based on the court decision, as well as in the case of his/her death or appearance of the conditions established in the Electoral Code as to the interdictions to be elected.
At the same time, if the electoral contender withdraws its/his/her candidacy or the registration is cancelled after the ballot papers were printed, the electoral bureau of the polling station will apply stamp with the inscription Retras (Withdrawn) in the ballot paper at the concerned contender.
