Moldovan MPs to convene at plenary meeting on September 10; agenda includes budget, energy security, EU legislation
The MPs will convene at plenary meeting on September 10. The parliament’s agenda includes draft laws on amendments to the 2026 budget, the simplification of tax and customs legislation, the security of oil product supplies, as well as more initiatives to harmonize national legislation with European Union standards.
Thus, in the first reading, the lawmakers will consider draft laws on simplifying tax and customs legislation, strengthening the transparency of the process for selecting candidates for the position of Constitutional Court judge and improving the regulatory framework in the areas of cadastre, the formation of real estate properties and addresses.
Also in the first reading, the MPs will examine the draft law on the reorganization of the Railway of Moldova state enterprise. The parliamentarians will also discuss amendments to the Horticulture Law, which provide for the establishment of criteria to determine when horticultural plantations begin producing, as well as adjustments to the regulatory framework for the operation of small farms in the built-up areas of localities.
In the second reading, the parliament will examine the draft laws on amendments to the state budget, the state social insurance budget and the mandatory health insurance funds for 2026.
The meeting’s agenda also includes draft laws on the security of oil product supplies and the institutionalization of the Defense General Staff.
The MPs will also examine the draft law providing for the activation of prepaid SIM cards only on the basis of an identity document. The initiative is to be merged with the draft law on preventing telephone scams and fraud committed through electronic communications.
In addition, the parliament’s agenda includes six draft laws aimed at harmonizing national legislation with European Union standards. They concern medical and pharmaceutical professions, the criminal liability of legal entities, combating abusive legal proceedings against public participation, the investigation of transport accidents and incidents, postal communications, as well as authorizing energy production from renewable sources and developing the biofuels market.
Lawmakers will additionally consider amendments to parliament decisions on the composition of the Standing Bureau, parliament’s delegations to international and bilateral parliamentary organizations and parliamentary friendship groups.
At the same time, the parliament is expected to denounce the Agreement on Interlibrary Loan within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
