PHOTO // National record in Chișinău: Milina – largest sour cherry pie in Moldova

A sour cherry pie of impressive size has set a national record. Employees of Milina Bakery Plant in Taraclia prepared in Chișinău a pie with a length of 9.2 meters and a width of two meters, with a total area of 18.4 square meters. The record was officially registered during Local Product exhibition, held at Moldexpo, MOLDPRES reports with reference to TUK.

Before the record was validated, the pie was measured in the presence of exhibition visitors. The verification and registration procedure was carried out by record registration judge Iulia Pânzaru.

After the measurements, the pie was officially declared the largest sour cherry pie in the Republic of Moldova.

The record was not just a spectacle for visitors. After registration, the pie was cut into portions and those present at the exhibition were invited to taste it.

Speaker Igor Grosu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Eugeniu Osmochescu, representatives of the organizers and of local producers attended the event.

The name Milina comes from the traditional Bulgarian product “milina”, a pastry specialty associated with family, hospitality and the warmth of home. According to company representatives, these values are reflected in the enterprise’s philosophy.

The second edition of the national exhibition “Local Product” opened on August 28 at Moldexpo and runs until August 30. The event brings together over 300 producers from the Republic of Moldova, who are presenting their products and offers.

The exhibition program includes tastings, culinary demonstrations and artistic events. The exhibition is organized at the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and aims to promote local producers and products.
