Moldova is not alone: powerful message from European Parliament
Moldova last week was in the spotlight in Strasbourg, and Moldovans should know that they enjoy the support of the European Parliament, in order to continue decisively on the path to the EU. A member of the European Parliament, Siegfried Muresan, has made statements to this effect.
According to the cited source, at the beginning of the week, President Maia Sandu delivered a speech in the plenum of the European Parliament and had meetings with leaders of the main European political groups, on the sidelines of the session.
“Also on September 9, European MPs discussed ways to counter Russian interference ahead of the parliamentary elections in Moldova. A key moment took place on September 10, when the European Parliament adopted, with a large majority, a resolution for Moldova. The document calls for the speeding up of Moldova's accession process and the opening of chapter negotiations,” said Muresan.
The MEP reiterated that citizens can be assured of the European Parliament's support in Moldova's accession process.
“Moldova is not alone. The people of Moldova enjoy our full support, in order to to once again reject, at the polls, Russia's influence and to continue decisively on the European path,” Siegfried Muresan added.
