Meeting of Joint Control Commission: authorities ask for free access to polling stations for citizens from left bank of Dniester

The Joint Control Commission (CUC) had a meeting in Bender today. During the meeting, the Chisinau authorities asked for free access to polling stations opened for citizens from the left bank of the Dniester.

According to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, Moldova’s delegation said that polling stations would be organized in the settlements of the Security Zone, under the control of constitutional authorities, for citizens of Moldova, including voters from the Transnistrian region.

“The delegation of Moldova made a call to the co-heads of the Joint Control Commission, representatives of Ukraine and the OSCE Mission in Moldova and the Joint Military Command of the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces, requesting the prevention of situations that could endanger the free participation of citizens in elections or the proper conduct of the election, such as obstacles to the movement of citizens, electoral officials and police when crossing posts in the Security Zone,” the institution informed.

The Moldovan delegation also said that maintaining public order would be carried out by the territorial subdivisions of the General Police Inspectorate.

For the parliamentary elections due on September 28, 12 polling stations will be opened for Moldova’s citizens residing in localities on the left bank of Dniester and in the Bender municipality, which are temporarily outside the effective control of the constitutional authorities.
