Romania stands by the Republic of Moldova, as it always has. We need stability, solid partnerships, and ever closer cooperation between Bucharest and Chisinau. The message was conveyed today by President of the Romanian Senate Mircea Abrudean, following a meeting with Speaker Igor Grosu.

Mircea Abrudean emphasized that, during the meeting, they discussed projects that bring the two banks of the Prut River closer together, with a focus on the Republic of Moldova’s major objective: European integration.

“I was glad to welcome today, in the Senate, Igor Grosu, Speaker of the Republic of Moldova. Romania stands by the Republic of Moldova, as it always has. We need stability, solid partnerships, and ever closer cooperation between Bucharest and Chisinau,” the Romanian official said.

Grosu appreciated the good cooperation between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and that of Romania, which contributes to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

“I started my visit to Bucharest with a good discussion with my counterpart, the President of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Abrudean. We talked about the close relationship between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Parliament of Romania, about the joint projects that connect us more and more, and about the important role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in consolidating the partnership between our countries. We will continue working together to complete strategic infrastructure projects and to bring the Republic of Moldova closer to the European Union,” Igor Grosu noted.

Grosu is taking part in the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum, held in Bucharest on 12–13 May 2026. During the event, the head of the Legislature will be a keynote speaker in two discussion panels, where he will address the progress and challenges of the Republic of Moldova’s accession process to the European Union.

Additionally, Grosu will be received today at Cotroceni Palace by President of Romania Nicusor Dan.
