Polling stations have closed. Over 24,600 citizens took part in new local elections and local referendums

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced the end of the voting process in the 12 localities where new local elections and local referendums were held today. All 40 polling stations closed at 21:00.

According to the CEC, a total of 24,628 citizens exercised their right to vote. Voter turnout in the new local elections was 35.38% – 23,720 voters, while turnout in the local referendums was 30.53% – 908 voters.

By electoral district, the turnout recorded at the polling stations was as follows: Costești village, Ialoveni district – 3,613 voters (37.95%); Ruseștii Noi commune, Ialoveni district – 1,796 voters (38.91%); Mașcăuți village, Criuleni district – 1,066 voters (34.91%); Sărătenii Vechi commune, Telenești district – 857 voters (40.35%); Taraclia town, Taraclia district – 3,912 voters (33.31%); Orhei municipality, Orhei district – 8,818 voters (34.36%); Topala village, Cimișlia district – 260 voters (33.72%); Plop village, Dondușeni district – 548 voters (56.26%); Frumușica commune, Florești district – 490 voters (48.56%); Copceac village, ATU Gagauzia – 2,360 voters (31.13%); Hăsnășenii Mari village, Drochia district – 494 voters (40.36%); Sadâc commune, Cantemir district – 414 voters (23.66%).

In the coming hours, the CEC will receive the official reports summarizing the election results. All information provided prior to the receipt of the original documents from the lower electoral bodies is preliminary in nature.

In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, new local elections and local referendums are considered valid if at least one quarter of the persons registered on the electoral rolls participate.
