Munteanu Government will not resign

President Maia Sandu said that the Government led by Alexandru Munteanu will continue its work, and there is no intention to resign, emphasizing that the governmental team is focused on economic development measures and attracting investments.

The head of state rejected statements made by some opposition leaders about a possible resignation of the government, noting that no such discussions have taken place.

“ We are not sending anyone into resignation. Mr. Usatîi is not speaking for the first time about things that have nothing to do with reality. We do not have any discussions on this topic. The Government is working, has many planned activities, is preparing the organization of an investment forum in June, and we hope to see the results of this forum,” Maia Sandu told Realitatea Moldova.

The President underlined that the main priority of the current government is economic growth, mentioning that the government is working on solutions to counteract the effects of external crises on the national economy.

“The main task of this Government, as I have said from day one, is economic development. Unfortunately, the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz does not help, because we saw a positive signal on the economic side, but then a new crisis came,” the head of state said.

Maia Sandu added that the authorities in Chișinău are holding talks with foreign investors from several countries, including France, the United States of America, and Romania, to stimulate investments in the economy of the Republic of Moldova.

In June, a large-scale investment forum will be organized in partnership with the European Union, an event that is expected to attract new economic opportunities for the country.

“If the war in Ukraine ends, the reconstruction of that country will begin, and the companies that will be in Moldova will grow,” Maia Sandu also said.

Previously, opposition leaders Renato Usatîi and Igor Dodon declared that the Government led by Alexandru Munteanu, which took office following the parliamentary elections on September 28, was expected to step down this spring.
