Sorin Grindeanu: Romania - main advocate for Moldova's EU accession

Romania is the main advocate for Moldova's accession to the European Union, and this should be reflected in stronger economic cooperation and more joint projects with EU funding for the benefit of all. This statement was made by the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, Sorin Grindeanu, after discussions with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, who is visiting Bucharest.

"Today, I conveyed to Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu the unequivocal support Romania has for the accelerated accession of Moldova to the European Union and the immediate start of chapter negotiations," said Sorin Grindeanu.

According to the official, political support means ongoing dialogue with pro-European parties in Moldova, collaboration between the parliaments of the two countries, as well as strengthening ties between local administrations and increasing the presence of Romanian companies in Moldova.

"The war in Ukraine has shown how fragile our region is. Therefore, we support the strengthening of Moldova's administrative and defense capacities through partnerships with the European Union, NATO, and Romania," added Sorin Grindeanu.
