New local elections: Around 30% of voters turned out by 6:00 p.m.

More than 21,100 citizens, representing approximately 30% of the people included in the electoral rolls, had cast their ballots by 6:00 p.m. in the new local elections and local referendums held today in 12 localities across the country.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, in the localities where new local elections are taking place, 20,355 citizens, or 30.38% of those expected at the polls, have exercised their right to vote. In the two localities where local referendums are being held, 782 voters have cast their ballots, accounting for 26.30%.

The highest voter turnout has been recorded in the village of Plop, Dondușeni district, where 486 voters (49.90%) had gone to the polls by this time. The voting process is proceeding without incidents.

In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, new local elections and local referendums are considered valid if at least one quarter of the persons registered in the electoral rolls participate.

New local elections for the position of mayor are being held today in the village of Costești and the commune of Ruseștii Noi in Ialoveni district, the village of Mașcăuți in Criuleni district, the commune of Sărătenii Vechi in Telenești district, the town of Taraclia in Taraclia district, the municipality of Orhei in Orhei district, the village of Topala in Cimișlia district, the village of Plop in Dondușeni district, and the commune of Frumușica in Florești district.

In the village of Copceac, Gagauzia, a new composition of the local council will be elected. In the commune of Sadâc, Cantemir district, and the village of Hăsnășenii Mari, Drochia district, local recall referendums for mayors are being held.
