Speaker Igor Grosu held a meeting with Minister of State for Europe of the Federal Republic of Germany Gunther Krichbaum, who was in Chișinău to take part in the 135th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

During the talks, the officials discussed bilateral cooperation and the support Germany has provided to our country on its European path. “The Republic of Moldova takes its commitments on EU accession seriously and has demonstrated this by being a leader in implementing reform measures. Germany’s support is very important for our EU accession process,” he emphasized.

Igor Grosu also thanked the German official for Germany’s constant support for the Republic of Moldova in the political, economic, institutional and security fields.

The Republic of Moldova established its first diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Germany in 1992. At present, 86 treaties are in force between the two countries, covering financial and technical cooperation, social security, development cooperation, investment protection and other areas of common interest.
