Over 10,400 citizens voted by 12:00 in the new local elections and local referendums organized today in 12 localities across the country.
According to the Central Electoral Commission, 10,064 citizens voted in the localities where new local elections are taking place, which represents 15.05% of those registered in the main electoral lists. In the local referendums, a total of 380 voters, or 12.79%, exercised their right to vote.
The most active voters are in the village of Plop, Dondușeni district, and the commune of Frumușica, Florești district, where turnout has exceeded 28%.
The voting process is proceeding without incidents. The 40 polling stations will close at 21:00.
New local elections for the position of mayor are being held today in the village of Costești and the commune of Ruseștii Noi in Ialoveni district, the village of Mașcăuți, Criuleni district, the commune of Sărătenii Vechi, Telenești district, the town of Taraclia, Taraclia district, the municipality of Orhei, Orhei district, the village of Topala, Cimișlia district, the village of Plop, Dondușeni district, and the commune of Frumușica, Florești district.
In the village of Copceac, Gagauzia, a new composition of the local council will be elected. In the commune of Sadâc, Cantemir district, and the village of Hăsnășenii Mari, Drochia district, local referendums are being held on the recall of the mayors.
