Moldovan speaker welcomes European Parliament's decision to open Office in Chișinău
Speaker Igor Grosu welcomes the European Parliament's decision to open a Liaison Office in Chișinău. Grosu says this office will help authorities inform people about the benefits of joining the European Union.
In a social media post, Grosu emphasizes he has asked the European Parliament to set up this office which will help Chișinău authorities improve the legislative process.
“Moldova will have a European Parliament office in Chișinău. The decision was made a few minutes ago by the leadership of the European Parliament, following repeated requests I made to my fellow MEPs. This is an important new step in the European integration process. The office will help us improve the legislative process and inform people across the country about the benefits of being part of the large European family. Thank you, friends!” stated Igor Grosu.
The proposal to open office in Chișinău was submitted to the European Parliament's standing bureau by Vice-President Victor Negrescu. The decision was also welcomed by interim President of Romania Ilie Bolojan, who highlighted that establishing this office in Chișinău represents European support in the EU accession process as well as in combating disinformation.
