Chisinau, July 11 /MOLDPRES/- Voters who will demand, accept or receive money, goods, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, food or services to favor or disfavor a particular electoral candidate will risk a fine. A draft law was passed in the first reading by 69 lawmakers, according to a parliamentary press release.
The legislative initiative belongs to a group of MPs of Action and Solidarity Party faction. The authors propose to supplement the Contravention Code in order to penalize passive bribery during the electoral campaign, on the day preceding the elections or on election day, and the amount of fines will be from 25,000 to 37,500 lei.
The document will be proposed for a second reading in the plenary of the Parliament. Once adopted, the legislative amendments will enter into force upon the publication in the Official Journal.
