Gold and bronze medals for Moldova at European Canoe Marathon Championships: Daniela Cociu becomes European champion
Daniela Cociu won the gold medal, while Mihai Chihaia claimed bronze at the Senior European Canoe Marathon Championships held in Pitești, Romania.
Thus, Daniela Cociu became European champion over the 3.4 km distance, crossing the finish line with a time of 17:45.29. Her teammate, Elena Glizan, finished 6th in the same event, with a time of 18:36.60.
Mihai Chihaia completed the podium over the same distance, recording a time of 15:44.06, while Oleg Tarnovschi finished 8th with a time of 16:51.80.
The leader of the national team, Serghei Tarnovschi, did not participate in this year's edition.
The Senior, Junior and U23 European Canoe Marathon Championships in Bascov, Pitești, brought together around 475 athletes from 24 countries across the Old Continent.
