Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office informs about finishing presentation of evidence of accusation in file of former Moldova's president

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA) today informed that it had finished the presentation of the evidence in the file of the former Moldovan president, Igor Dodon.

According to PA, the former head of state is charged with the fact that, while aiming at promoting the interests of Vladimir Plahotniuc and Serghei Iaralov, who created and were leading a crime ring and who were interest to control the political, social and economic processes in Moldova, as well as to evade criminal liability in Russia, claimed and accepted from them money worth from 600,000 up to 1,000,000 U.S. dollars.

According to the quoted source, Dodon claimed the money for the payment of the current expenses of the political party, Party of Socialists from Moldova (PSRM), including for the payment of the salaries of the PSRM employees.

The criminal file was sent to court in October 2022 and 15 witnesses were heard and a string of official reports and documents were considered at court sessions.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office noted that the presentation of the evidence had lasted more than two years and at present, the evidence of the defence is examined.
