Children with disabilities to receive annual support of 3,000 Lei

Children with disabilities will receive annual support of three thousand lei, according to a draft law approved today by the Government.

The support will be offered in June.

"The draft provides for the annual granting, in June, of a payment of 3,000 lei as social allowance for children with disabilities. The purpose of the draft is to strengthen the social protection of families who care for children with disabilities by compensating the additional costs related to care, recovery, mobility, and social integration, which are quite high," Minister of Labour and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru said at the Government meeting.

Around 13,580 children with disabilities will benefit from the new support. The payment will be granted automatically, without the need to submit an application, being designed as a simple, accessible and bureaucracy‑free mechanism.

The draft is to be sent to Parliament for examination and approval.
