Moldovan citizens who worked in Slovakia to be eligible for social benefits

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have officially worked in the Slovak Republic will be able to receive pensions and other social benefits from this state. The draft law for the ratification of the Agreement to this effect, concluded between the two states, was approved today by the Government.

Under the Agreement, Moldovan citizens will receive old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by general illnesses, pensions and allowances for disability resulting from work accidents or occupational diseases, as well as survivor’s pensions or other benefits.

The proportional principle for calculating pensions stipulates that each Contracting State will pay the part of the pension calculated in proportion to the insurance period completed on its own territory, while the export of benefits provides the person with the right to receive the pension and other benefits acquired in the states in which they carried out their activity, while residing in their country of domicile.

So far, the Republic of Moldova has signed social security agreements with 22 states, 18 of which have entered into force and are applicable. These are social security agreements signed between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Austria, Estonia, the Czech Republic, the Kingdom of Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Germany, Turkey, Belarus, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Latvia.
