Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has met Ambassador of France to Moldova Dominique Waag. The discussions focused on the bilateral relations between the two countries, Moldova’s European agenda and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Particular attention was paid to economic and investment cooperation. The officials discussed the activities of French-owned companies already operating in Moldova and opportunities to expand investments. Presently, 213 companies with French capital operate in the country, and the parties emphasized the need to better capitalize on the existing potential, including in infrastructure, energy and information technology.

The PM encouraged the expansion of French companies’ presence in the country and the development of new investment projects. In this regard, the business mission scheduled to take place in Chisinau on November 2 was mentioned as an opportunity to create new avenues for cooperation and investment between companies from the two countries.

Another topic discussed during the meeting was the European path of Moldova. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan appreciated France’s continued support for the country’s European agenda and for advancing the process of accession to the European Union.

The sides also discussed the cultural cooperation and the promotion of Francophonie, as well as collaboration in the fields of security and defense, expressing their interest in continuing projects and exchanges that bring the two countries closer together.
