Speaker: Russia’s threat not scare tactic and not propaganda. It is daily reality

Russia’s threat is not a “scare tactic” and is not propaganda. It is a daily reality. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement after a drone crossed the Republic of Moldova yesterday and crashed near the village of Mihăilenii Vechi, Rîșcani district, while a drone attack took place overnight at Tudora–Starokazachye border crossing.

The Speaker emphasized that these are no longer incidents that we can regard as something distant. According to him, Russian drones violate our airspace, crash on our country’s territory, and kill people just a few hundred meters from the Republic of Moldova’s border.

“Russia’s threat is not a ‘scare tactic’ and is not propaganda. It is a daily reality. Russia is present through the drones flying over our country, through the disinformation and propaganda it uses to try to divide our society, and through the armed troops it illegally maintains in the Transnistrian region,” Igor Grosu said.

The Speaker of Parliament condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and extended his condolences to the families of those who died.

“In Ukraine, Russia has been killing people every day for more than four years. We condemn these terrible attacks. I extend my sincere condolences to the relatives of those who died. Moldova has stood and continues to stand with Ukraine,” Igor Grosu said.

The statements come after a drone crossed the Republic of Moldova yesterday, entered Romania’s airspace, then returned to our country and crashed near the village of Mihăilenii Vechi, Rîșcani district. During the flight, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova was restricted, and aircraft in flight were forced to wait until our airspace was reopened.

At the same time, a new drone attack took place overnight. This time, it occurred at Tudora–Starokazachye border crossing between our country and Ukraine. For many Moldovans, this is a familiar border crossing that they use frequently. One of the drones exploded, killing two civilians and injuring two others.
