How can we protect children in digital environment? Moldovan president, Romania’s First Lady attend international conference in Chisinau
Mirabela Gradinaru, the First Lady of Romania, today will arrive in Chisinau, where she will join President Maia Sandu at an international conference dedicated to online safety and the impact of the digital environment on the mental health of children and adolescents.
The conference titled, Online Safety and the Digital Determinants of Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being of Children and Adolescents, is organized by the Health Ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe, under the auspices of the Presidency of Moldova and with co-financing from the European Union.
Mirabela Gradinaru and Maia Sandu will participate in a high-level panel dedicated to digital environments and the mental health of young people. Discussions will address the impact of social media and the digital environment on the mental health and emotional well-being of children and adolescents, as well as the risks associated with internet use.
Senior officials, national and international experts, representatives of international organizations and young people from Moldova are expected to attend the event. Participants include Health Minister Alexandru Gasnas, Director of the Division of Country Health Policies and Systems at the WHO Regional Office for Europe for Natasha Azzopardi Muscat and European Union Ambassador to Moldova Iwona Piórko.
Experts from France, Belgium, Finland, Poland and the Czech Republic will present European-level experiences and solutions for creating a safer and healthier digital environment for children and adolescents.
The event started at 9:00 and takes place at the Urban Business Center from Chisinau.
