Moldovan parliament speaker, on National Army Day, says National Army symbol of defending peace

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, at the beginning of today’s plenary meeting of the parliament, congratulated the military personnel and everyone contributing to defending the independence and territorial integrity of Moldova, on the occasion of National Army Day, marked on September 3.

“I extend my sincere congratulations to all those who ensure our peace through courage, dedication, love of country and who contribute to defending independence and territorial integrity,” Igor Grosu said.

The parliament speaker highlighted the level of preparedness of the military personnel and the process of modernizing the defense system, noticed during the military parade organized on the occasion of Independence Day.

“We all watched the military parade with pride. We saw a better-prepared army and clear evidence that the defense system is being modernized,” Igor Grosu said.

In his message, the official emphasized that Moldova does not want war or threats against its citizens.

“Moldova does not want war. We do not want drones falling on its territory or threats against its citizens. Moldova wants peace for its people and for sovereign states,” the parliament speaker said.

Igor Grosu noted that a strong army primarily means the ability to defend peace.

“The National Army is a symbol of defending peace and that is what it will continue to be,” the speaker stressed.

At the end, Igor Grosu congratulated the military personnel on National Army Day and thanked them for their service to the country.

“Happy National Army Day! Thank you for serving your country with honor!” the parliament speaker concluded.

The National Army is marking 35 years since its establishment today.

The National Army Day is celebrated annually on September 3. The institution was established in 1991, shortly after the Republic of Moldova had proclaimed its Independence.
