
Council for immunizations recommends administering of Booster 2 dose against COVID-19
Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - The National Council for Immunizations has recommended that the Health Ministry administers the Booster 2 dose against COVID-19. Health Minister Ala Nemerenco today made statements to this effect.
The official stressed, at present, the technical part was compiled, in order to be able to start the vaccination process. ‘’They decide what type of vaccine will be used, the dose and the priority categories which are to be immunized. After these peculiarities are established, the Health Ministry will issue, on the next days, an order on the administering of Booster 2. Most probably, the immunization will be carried out with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and the process might start as early as next week,’’ Ala Nemerenco said.
The health minister noted that the hospitals from Moldova were prepared for the new wave of COVID-19. ‘’They were endowed with equipment and beds. The medical institutions are gradually opened, depending on the number of coronavirus cases. Presently, we have enough stocks of medical equipment and vaccines. At the same time, we recommend that the citizens observe the protection measures and wear masks in closed spaces. We are happy with the fact that the number of people administering their first dose has increased in the last week. More exactly, it is about 420 people,’’ Nemerenco stressed.
According to the World Health Organization, the second Booster dose is recommended to people older than 60 and the ones hit by chronic diseases.
