Eight companies of Moldova to receive grants for setting up family-, child-friendly spaces

Eight companies of Moldova will receive non-reimbursable grants, in order to set up family- and child-friendly spaces, develop alternative childcare services at the workplace and adapt internal policies to the needs of employees with family responsibilities.

The financial support certificates today were awarded during an event organized at Moldova’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), attended by Labour and Social Protection Minister Natalia Plugaru and development partners.

“For women to actively participate in the labour market and develop their careers, it is important that they have conditions enabling them to combine professional and family responsibilities. We want more and more companies to adopt such practices, for the benefit of employees and their families,” Natalia Plugaru said.

The companies will receive grants, consultancy, training for management and employees, as well as support in aligning their internal policies with the relevant regulatory framework.

The project aims to facilitate women’s access to employment opportunities, support their retention in the labour market and promote a better balance between professional and family life. At the same time, the development of childcare services at the workplace can contribute to creating a more inclusive professional environment that is better adapted to parents’ needs.

Since 2020, the Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MMPS), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with financial support from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), and in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been promoting and supporting the development of family-friendly policies in Moldova. The initiative will continue in 2027–2028, when the partnerships are expected to be extended to another 17 private companies.

The event was organized as part of the project, Building Women’s Resilience and Excellence through Inclusive and Family-Friendly Employment Opportunities, funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and implemented by UN Women and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Moldova, in partnership with the MMPS.
