
Environmental Protection Inspectorate took anti-poaching actions in Cahul district
Chisinau, Dec. 22 / MOLDPRES /- The Directorate for Environmental and Fisheries Resources Control, within the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, conducted two raids in Cahul district to counter hunting poaching, and two hunters were fined for illegal pheasant hunting.
The main inspector of the above-mentioned department, Vladimir Rusu, announced that following the inspection and verification of the hunting and fishing activities, 21 contravention reports were drawn up, with the application of fines in the total amount of 30,100 lei, damages caused to the environment, submitted for recovery, amount to 7,500 lei, being raised and three pheasants illegally acquired.
According to the official, during the control carried out in the hunting ground of Cahul district, two members of the Society of Hunters and Fishermen of Moldova were detected and documented, who concealed the harvesting of three pheasants. Consequently, both hunters were charged with violating the Code of Contravention, with fines of 60 u.c. (3,000 lei), with the imposition of the restitution of the damages caused to the hunting fund in the amount of 2,500 lei, for each pheasant.
The most frequent violations of the use and protection of the hunting fund, detected by environmental inspectors are: hunting near localities with no respect for the established distance, hunting with dogs not registered with the Society of Hunters and Fishermen of Moldova, detention hunting of cartridges loaded with anchovies larger than 5.0 mm, hunting of land birds and hares without proper equipment, hunting with a weapon not accompanied by a weapon permit, transport of the mounted and loaded hunting weapon, lack of training on compliance hunting safety techniques.
At the same time, the head of the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, Ion Bulmaga, warned on social networks that, during the winter holidays, activities to combat poaching and illegal logging will be intensified and asked the population to comply with environmental legislation.
