EU citizens who cross Moldova's border to benefit from documentation facilities
Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament adopted amendments to more normative acts regarding the regime of foreigners in Moldova in the second reading today.
Under the document, the members of the diplomatic missions, consular offices and representations of international organizations accredited in Moldova, as well as their family members will be exempted from the compulsoriness to hold a visa when crossing Moldova’s border. The holders of travel documents issued by the Council of Europe, European Union, Sovereign Military Order of Malta, International Committee of the Red Cross and North Atlantic Treaty Organization will benefit from a free visa regime of travels to Moldova.
The new regulations regard also the facilitation of the documentation of the European Union states’ citizens through excluding the obligation to present the maintenance means and the health insurance for giving the right of temporary stay in Moldova, as well as giving the right of stay for a period of five years. Another facility refers to the term of submitting and examining the application on the giving/ extension of the right to stay, which is 15 calendar days. These facilities are prompted by the getting by Moldova of the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union.
Also, the document suggests the excepting from the procedure of getting an invitation for giving the entry/exit visa for the foreigners holders of a permit of stay or of a valid visa (except for the transit countries), issued by the United Kingdom, USA and Canada.
