MD-ALERT system to be operational in 2027

MD-ALERT system will be operational in 2027. After the completion of the feasibility study and the finalization of the concept, the authorities are to launch procurements for the technical equipment. Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin made the statement before the cabinet meeting.

According to the official, the authorities are currently working on finalizing the concept of the MD-ALERT system, which will be examined by the Government in the near future.

“Subsequently, procedures related to making the system operational will be initiated; I am referring to several technical components that are to be procured. These are absolutely necessary processes. Last year the feasibility study was completed. Based on this, the concept is now being finalized, and as soon as we have the legal regulatory framework, the necessary procurements for this system will be launched,” noted Daniella Misail-Nichitin.

It will allow that in risk situations—extreme weather events, major accidents or other emergencies—citizens receive immediate warning messages directly on their mobile phones, via telecommunications operators’ networks.

The operationalization of the system is taking place in accordance with the National Programme for the Accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU 2025–2029. The project is being implemented in partnership with the World Bank.
