Medical innovations from Moldovan Medical University USMF awarded at biggest invention salon of Moldova

The medical innovations developed at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) have been awarded numerous distinctions at the International Specialized Exhibition, INFOINVENT, the biggest inventions event in Moldova.

At the XIX edition of the exhibition, USMF researchers received five special trophies and 26 medals, including 10 gold, five silver and eight bronze.

One of the most prestigious awards – the National Award of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for enterprise – 2025 – was awarded to USMF Nicolae Testemitanu for substantial contributions to the development of medical research and the turning to account of technologies with direct applicability in clinical practice.

The Grand Prize for The Best Invention, provided by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), went to the research team from the Laboratory of Hepato-surgery, Center for Abdominal Pathology and Transplant, for their work titled, Methods of complex minimally invasive treatment of liver cancer.

At the same time, the award, The Best Invention Created by a Woman Inventor, was given to researcher Valeriana Pantea from the Biochemistry Laboratory and the Scientific Center of Medication.

Another significant trophy, offered by the National Agency for Research and Development for The Best Research Project, was awarded to the team from the Tissue Engineering and Cell Cultures Laboratory for the project, Evaluation of the regenerative efficacy of biological dressings developed through tissue engineering.

Additionally, the WIPO Award for Inventor of the Year – 2025 was conferred on Professor Nicolae Bodrug, in recognition of his prolific activity in research, medical education and innovation, as well as for introducing ozone therapy in Moldova.
