Moldovans working in Slovakia to receive pensions
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who work or have worked in the Slovak Republic will be able to receive pensions and other social benefits, based on a bilateral social security agreement that is to be ratified by Parliament.
Members of the parliamentary committee on foreign policy will propose that the parliament approve the document, which establishes social guarantees for migrant workers from the Republic of Moldova and the Slovak Republic.
The agreement stipulates that periods of employment completed in the two states will be taken into account when determining the right to a pension, including old-age pensions, disability pensions, work-accident or occupational-disease pensions, as well as survivor’s pensions.
The document also applies to Slovak workers who are settled or employed in the Republic of Moldova, offering the same social protection guarantees. After ratification, the agreement will allow the aggregation of contribution periods and access to social benefits in accordance with the legislation of each state.
The agreement was signed on March 26, 2026, in Bratislava, and will enter into force after ratification by the parliaments of both countries.
Currently, the Republic of Moldova has concluded 23 agreements in the field of social security, 18 of which are already in force.
