Mobile intervention company of carabineers launched in north Moldova city
The residents of northern Moldova benefit from a new rapid intervention structure: the first Mobile Intervention Company of Carabineers today was inaugurated in the northern municipality of Edinet. The new unit, subordinated to the 3rd Regiment Dragos Voda of the North Regional Directorate, will cover a radius of 55 km, including the districts of Edinet, Briceni, Ocnita, and Donduseni.
According to the Interior Ministry, the carabineers from the company are trained to promptly respond to 112 emergency calls, maintain public order, support border control and prevent crime, thus providing more security to the communities of the region.
At the event on the launch of the new unit, Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin, General Commander of the General Inspectorate of Carabineers Dumitru Scurtu, representatives of the government in the territory and local authorities were present.
"The missions of this company directly meet people's expectations: maintaining and restoring public order, responding to 112 emergency calls, supporting border control and preventing crime. All these represent firm commitments for community’s safety," said Minister Misail-Nichitin.
The company in Edinet is the first in a string of five mobile units that will be created nationally, with the next ones to be launched in Ungheni, Orhei, Causeni and Cahul. The structure operates according to the Carabineers’ Law, which aligns Moldova with European security standards.
