VIDEO // New raids in north Moldova; law enforcers make raids in criminal file on electoral corruption, illegal financing of political parties, money laundering

Law-enforcers today morning conducted over 40 raids in north Moldova. The actions are part of a criminal file opened for electoral corruption, illegal financing of political parties and money laundering.

According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), the raids are currently ongoing.

“Officers of the National Investigation Inspectorate, along with prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating the Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS) and officers from the Fulger special police brigade, conducted over 40 raids in the north of the country early this morning. The raids are part of a criminal case concerning electoral corruption, illegal financing of political parties, initiative groups, electoral competitors committed on a large scale, and money laundering carried out by an organized criminal group on an extraordinarily large scale,” IGP said.

The police will provide further details after the completion of procedural actions.

Similar actions took place September 2, when law enforcement bodies conducted 60 raids in south Moldova. Following the raids, three persons were detained in a case on electoral corruption and money laundering. The group is alleged to have acted for the benefit of a crime ring guided from outside the country with the aim of corrupting voters through the PSB mobile application of the Russian bank Promsviazybank.
